Who is Burna Boy?
Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer who was born on July 2, 1991. He was born and raised in Ahaoda, Rivers State, Nigeria. Burna has earned respects of many as one of the most powerful singers in the world especially after he came into the limelight when he dropped his single Like to Party (2012) and subsequently his album L.I.F.E (2013).
Burna Boy returned to Nigeria in 2010 to professionally start his music career, although records show that he has been making music since the age of 10. As at then he was making music with an App called Fruityloops by was sent to him by his classmate. He released his hit single, Like to Party (2012). The subsequent year he, he dropped his debut album L.I.F.E (2013) of which Like to Party (2012) was the lead single.

He did not stop at that. He released another single, tonight (2014) which was a hit single. In the early stages of his career, he collaborated with top artistes like D’Banj and co. He pleased his fans with other hit songs like Won Da Mo, Yawa Dey, Celebrate, Check and Balance, and Run My Race before dropping periodically from the music scene. He returned to the music scene in 2017 and took over the Nigerian music industry when he dropped his hit singles Ye (2018), Gbona (2018), On The Low (2018). The unique nature of the hit songs made them turnout street anthems which were widely accepted.
Now he has turned one of the most successful Nigerian artistes and has bagged a lot of deals, awards and endorsements. He bagged a multi-million deal with one of Nigeria’s biggest telecoms giants, GLOBACOM. Earlier in 2019, he signed an ongoing deal with Star Larger Beer. He was nominated for the “Next Rated” in the Headies Award (2013) and won the Best Pop Act in South South Music Awards (2013).
He has also won the Best New Act in the MTV Africa Music Awards. His single Ye, won him the Song of the year at the Soundcity Awards (2018). More awards to his collection are: The Listener’s Choice, Soundcity (2018), African Artiste of the Year at Soundcity (2018) and Best Male MVP, Soundcity Awards (2018).
